Supplies Needed for Silk Banner Painting Class


You need to have your design for the banner ready to go, basically just the outline of what you want to draw on to paint. It will be easiest to draw if you can blow the image up to the size of banner you are making, but if you want to freehand it, that is up to you.

*You will need to have the piecescut and ready to go to make your own frame, choose one of these two styles*

For Stand alone Frame, Sits 36” off the floor, ¾” PVC unthreaded
- 6 Pieces 36” long
- 6 Pieces 24” long
- 8 Pieces 38” long
- 8 corner pieces
- 4 4way joints

Table top frame, 3/4" PVC
- 6 pieces – 3 ½”
- 6 pieces - 24”
- 8 Pieces - 38”
- 8 corner pieces
- 4 4way joints

*You will also need these*

- 22" x 72" 8mm silk scarf-either hand rolled or machine-This is what you will be painting!!
- 1 bag of #64 rubber bands
- Foam and regular brushes
- Quilters straight pins or binder clips-straight pins work better
- Hair dryer (we will use this to speed up the drying process, you really do want it)
- Resist-You can buy your own or use Thora's (clean the tip REALLY WELL when done!)
- Silk paints-you can purchase the starter set but Thora has all 32 colors and you can use hers
